WELCOMING THE DREAMLAND CINEMA

We’d like to extend a heartfelt welcome to The Dreamland Cinema. Creative small businesses hold a special place in our heart and especially the ones involving art and film!

“Microcinema bringing the best in cult, indie, international, and arthouse film to Sacramento, CA.”

Opening a small, independent movie theater in Sacramento has always been a dream of ours, so when we heard about The Dreamland Cinema we could not wait to check it out. We hadn’t even been yet and we were already telling everyone who would listen that they need to go check out this single screen, microcinema that had popped up in Midtown.

We stopped by for the first time for a $5 Mystery Movie (It was 1977’s Cathy’s Curse. Weird film.) and had a blast. Popcorn, candy, cold drinks, and a theater that seats roughly 25 people with surprisingly loud and crisp sound. We had a brief conversation with the owners, Lauren Hess & Tish Sparks, who are super rad, welcoming human beings. Since then we’ve been back many times for movies like Deep Red and Suspiria.

We couldn’t be more excited about having a little, basement cinema in the heart of our city and look forward to making many more movie memories there. If you’re a movie buff, or just like trying out fun, new things in the area, you have to check this place out. Plus, they just announced they’ve added cold beer, kombucha, and hard seltzes to their list of refreshments, so you know we’ll be making our way back soon. Maybe we’ll see you there!

You can find The Dreamland Cinema in Midtown, Sacramento at 1901 P St.
